01 / THE ENDURING MISSION

Big projects don't stay inside one chat.

Context Guard · In private development

When you work with ChatGPT over time, information gets spread out.

One conversation has the goal. Another has the latest progress. Another has an important decision. Another has the exact next step.

Before long, keeping track of everything becomes a project of its own.

Context Guard is being built to solve that problem. It helps you keep important project details organized so you can spend less time figuring out where you left off and more time moving forward.

Five fictional chat windows hold a business plan, software work, research, a project decision and an unfinished task. The information is scattered across them.

Your projects shouldn't lose their direction just because your conversations change.

02 / WHAT YOU NEED

Start with ChatGPT.
Connect your files if you want to.

01

ChatGPT

Context Guard works with ChatGPT to help organize your project information, keep track of decisions, and prepare to continue work in another conversation.

Conversation-based help can use the information you share in the chat. It doesn't need a connection to your computer.

02

Remote Desktop Commander

Required for computer access

Context Guard relies on the separate Remote Desktop Commander plugin to connect ChatGPT to your computer.

To create, read, or maintain your computer-based Second Brain, you must connect Remote Desktop Commander and have its desktop gateway running on the computer where your files are stored.

Installing Context Guard alone does not connect ChatGPT to your computer.

Remote Desktop Commander is a separate setup. It is not included with Context Guard or automatically installed.

Conversation-based Context Guard assistance remains available without that connection.

Computer access is a separate setup, on the computer holding your records. ChatGPT and the connected service may process information you choose to share; keeping the files on your computer doesn't mean all processing stays there.

03 / HOW IT WORKS

Keep the work together.
Know where to pick it up.

THE NOTEBOOK

Your Second Brain

Give your projects a place to live outside ChatGPT.

ChatGPT already has powerful memory features. Context Guard is designed to work alongside them with organized project files on your computer.

Think of it as a notebook for your AI projects. It helps organize your goals, decisions, unfinished tasks, important information, and where you need to pick up next. You can inspect and control those records yourself.

Today: the private plugin can work with an existing, configured Second Brain when authorized access is available. A complete, automatically installed notebook is a planned product experience, not something it sets up for you yet.

A chat connects, with permission, to a project notebook on your computer. Its pages organize goals, decisions, unfinished work and the next step.

THE RIGHT CONVERSATION

Paste Protection

Ever pasted something into the wrong ChatGPT conversation?

When you're juggling several projects, it's easy to send information to the wrong chat. You might be discussing your business in one conversation and building software in another, then accidentally paste software instructions into your business project.

Context Guard is designed to notice information that may belong somewhere else and help prevent confusion.

Today: checks can offer advisory warnings after a message arrives. They don't intercept or block a paste before you send it. Stronger digital project fingerprints and pre-send protection are still development goals.

Software instructions have already arrived in a business chat. An advisory says they may belong to another project.
The message has arrived. The warning is advice, not a pre-send block.

A FRESH CHAT, THE SAME PROJECT

Continuing in a New Chat

Starting a new conversation shouldn't mean starting your project over.

Context Guard can help prepare a rehydration prompt: a project summary for the next conversation. It can bring together the goals, decisions, unfinished work, important sources and where to continue, using the information available to it.

  1. Ask for a project summary to carry forward.
  2. Review it and copy it.
  3. Open a fresh ChatGPT conversation yourself.
  4. Paste the summary and check that the new chat understands the project.

The new conversation can use what you paste to help reconstruct the project. This is still a best-effort handoff: review and correct the summary before using it. It does not create a chat automatically or guarantee complete recovery. Missing information still needs your attention.

A hand carries a project summary from an older chat to a fresh one: you copy it, open the new chat and paste it yourself.
You move the summary yourself. The illustration does not show automatic chat switching.

KNOW WHAT WAS SAVED

“Remember this” isn't the same as “saved to my computer.”

Those are different things. Context Guard is designed to keep the distinction clear.

In this conversation

Information you've discussed here. That alone doesn't mean it reached your project files.

ChatGPT's memory

ChatGPT's own memory features. These are separate from the records in your Second Brain.

In your project files

Records on your computer. A save can be reported when authorized saving succeeds and is verified.

If saving hasn't been verified, Context Guard should say so. You shouldn't have to guess whether an important decision made it into your notebook.

A SMALL EXAMPLE

What could that look like?

Choose a fictional example. These show the idea; they aren't live plugin calls or recorded results.

YOU · FICTIONAL EXAMPLE

For my bakery plan, we decided to start with weekend orders. I haven't priced the boxes yet. What's next?

ILLUSTRATIVE RESPONSE

Pick up where you left off.

The plan you shared is to begin with weekend orders. Pricing the boxes is still unfinished. Start there before setting your prices. I'm using what you shared in this chat; I haven't checked your project files.

YOUR CHOICES

You're in control.

Ten management settings cover project identification, pasted information, Second Brain access and continuity. Open a setting to see what it means.

These are explanations, not live switches. Your real settings are on the connected management page. Ask Context Guard where its controls are to get the right link. ChatGPT's own Manage switches are separate.

01MasterOverall pause

Pause Context Guard while leaving its management page accessible. This does not turn off unrelated tools or ChatGPT's own memory.

02Conversation FingerprintExperimental

A test setting for exploring how a conversation could be associated with a project. It does not authenticate which live ChatGPT conversation is open. Stronger project fingerprints are still being developed.

03Import GuardAdvisory

Allow checks on pasted or supplied information in supported workflows. The message has already arrived; this cannot intercept or block a paste before submission.

04Selective Import FilterAdvisory

Help decide whether supplied information needs ordinary handling or a closer look. A routing label does not prove protection and does not turn on Import Guard by itself.

05Second Brain ReadAccess required

Allow eligible reads of your existing project records, under their instructions and your permissions. Turning this off blocks Context Guard from reading or writing those files. Turning it on does not prove that the computer is connected or a read succeeded.

06Automatic Maintenance / WritesVerified saves only

Allow authorized updates under the existing safe-saving rules. Off means no automatic or explicitly requested file writes. On is permission, not proof of a save: the update must succeed and be checked before it is reported as saved.

07Compact & ContinueAutomatic mode unfinished

The aim is a faithful handoff into another conversation. You can ask for a manual rehydration prompt, but automatic shortening and a correctly connected successor chat are not available as a finished capability. This setting does not make those steps automatic.

08Recovery / Conversation LineageUnavailable

The full recovery feature is not available. Selecting this preference does not create checkpoints, restore a project or prove the history of its conversations.

09Personal Context IntegrationWhen supported

Allow Context Guard to request personal context where that feature is supported and you have permitted it. This is separate from ChatGPT's own memory and does not guarantee that a lookup will work.

10Automatic Brain BootstrapExisting records only

Allow an eligible workflow to consult the instructions for an already configured Second Brain. The overall and read permissions still apply. This does not install a notebook, enable saving or guarantee continuity across chats.

A setting can still depend on permissions, another setting or a feature that isn't available yet. Turning it on doesn't make an unfinished feature work.

WHERE THINGS STAND

A private build.
A bigger experience in progress.

Context Guard is in private development. There isn't a public Context Guard installation or download on this page.

IN THE PRIVATE BUILD

Help with the work you have.

  • Organize and recap the project information you supply.
  • Use an existing configured Second Brain when authorized file access is available.
  • Help prepare a project summary for a manual new-chat handoff.
  • Offer advisory checks after messages arrive, with experimental behavior clearly labeled.
  • Distinguish conversation information from verified project-file saves.

STILL BEING DEVELOPED

Less setup. Stronger continuity.

  • A complete, automatically installed Second Brain experience.
  • Stronger digital project fingerprints and pre-send protection.
  • Automatic Compact & Continue and supported new-chat creation.
  • Reliable recovery and conversation-history features.
  • A finished, qualified public release.
A few details about the private build

This introduction describes a private build, not a finished public download. Recent private checks have not established reliable handoffs into a receiving chat; a useful, copyable summary can still miss requested instructions. Review it before relying on it.

What a workflow can do depends on the available ChatGPT tools, your permissions, the configured records and the information supplied. Private observations do not prove that every workflow will behave reliably in every conversation. Experimental controls are not host-level security.

Computer access and saving must follow the existing project instructions and safe-write procedure. Reading must be permitted; a successful tool call alone is not a verified save. Automatic chat creation, complete recovery and pre-send enforcement must not be inferred from a manual demonstration.

04 / THE BIGGER PICTURE

Less organizing.
More creating.

Context Guard isn't intended to replace ChatGPT's memory.

It's intended to give people more control over how their projects are organized, how important information is carried forward, and how their AI assistant helps them continue working.

The long-term goal is a world where managing ten projects doesn't require remembering which of fifty conversations contains the information you need.

Your AI should help you manage the work, not give you more work to manage.

I'm still building it. The private plugin can help with supplied project information and existing project records when access is set up. The packaged Second Brain, pre-send protection, automatic continuation and full recovery experience are unfinished.
